Geometries. Santiago Torralba
[ From 6th of August to 27th of September ]
During the months of August and September the temporary exhibition hall of the Antonio Saura Foundation (ASF) of Cuenca will dedicate its space to the photographer from Cuenca Santiago Torralba and his work entitled “Geometries”.
The exhibition includes close to 60 medium format photographs, which capture the perfection of geometric lines enclosed within an architecture whose everyday functionality does not lack plastic beauty, above all if seen through the artistic awareness, combined with perfect technical execution, of the photographer.
The “Geometries” of Santiago Torralba relinquish anthropic references and those relating to the whole of humanity. They are humble architectural forms captured as fields of colour woven upon the blue skies and they are shaped, connected or trimmed with the purity of straight or curved lines, always precisely defined. We are also speaking of a series of views of the built-up landscape and the material manifestations of progress that have seduced many contemporary creators, although perhaps a large part of Santiago Torralba’s work is very much inspired by the Bernd and Hilla Becher series.
The Antonio Saura Foundation attempts to dedicate monographic exhibitions to artists from Castilla-La Mancha of renowned prestige, as part of a programme that the institution seeks to consolidate with annual periodicity and which begins with the most recent work of Santiago Torralba.
