Double Session. Carlos Saura
[ From 26th of February until the end of May of 2010 ]
Carlos Saura (1932) was born in Huesca and grew up in Madrid. Interested in photography and film since his youth, it is superfluous to recall that he played a leading role in one of the most brilliant and original trajectories in the Spanish and European film scene of the second half of the XX century, the vitality of whom continues on to current times and also finds expression in other artistic fields such as painting. It is precisely within the context of this artistic expression that Carlos Saura has spent time developing a wholly personal work, halfway between conventional and digital painting, which has resulted in diverse series of works.
The exhibition “Double Session” centres on the theme of around fifty images of peculiar anthropomorphic birds; winged beings, full of colour in their plumage and with humanised features, accompanied by wry texts, allegorical comments or generally scathing brief words. Together with “The Birds”, a series of “erotic drawings” are also included, which will leave no-one unmoved.
