Moi Series by A. Saura
[ From the 3rd of January of 2012 ]
Exhibition of the 18 serigraphs from the "Moi" series by Antonio Saura and the photographs of Carlos Saura which led to this series. Both bodies of work form part of the permanent collection of the Saura Foundation.
Amongst the many donations received by the Antonio Saura Foundation throughout its existence, of note is the one made by the publisher Gustavo Gili, who recorded in 1976 the "Moi" series, consisting of 18 colour serigraphs.
It is a collection of deformed self-portraits by the artist from the basis of the photographs taken by his brother Carlos Saura some time before, in a game which, in the words of Antonio himself, consisted of depicting a self-portrait and which became an exercise in "anti-narcissism".
The "Moi" series of serigraphs together with some of the photographs of Carlos Saura prior to publication may be viewed on the second floor of the casa Zavala until the end of September.
