Ceramics Exhibition "The wounds of the Earth"
[ From 1st of October of 2010 ]
Dalita Navarro, native of Venezuela, studied metalwork with the Cuban-Venezuelan master, Rafael Bello. Her extensive artistic curriculum dates back to 1988 and extends through to our current times. The treatment of clay conferred upon her pieces sends us to places of the memory, combining tradition and modernity. An imaginary full of traces of Pre-Colombian American culture in the creation of aztec ceramics so full of colours and symbolism, shapes and fissures. Her pieces seem to whisper voices from the past and visions of the future, full of magic and significance.
The studied experimentation of expression of Dalita Navarro brings us close to these extraordinary sculptural works, created to lose oneself in the composition of each layer and in the attitude of each texture.
The exhibition "The wounds of the Earth" was previously exhibited in the halls of the Menéndez Pelayo International University of Santader, institution with which the Antonio Saura Foundation has co-published the catalogue accompanying the exhibition.
