BLACK MATTERS, is an exhibition commissioned by Ángel Martín, which will develop the concept of the subject matter as protagonist of the object, in African art, parallel to, or even above, in some cases, the work of the sculptor or the intentions of same at the time of creation.

During the selection process for the exhibition works of art, the sculptoric quality of same will not be discounted, but rather the reality of the sculpture will be assessed, in conjunction with the protagonism of the subject matter.

The presence and protagonism of the subject matter in African art will be analysed in the exhibition acording to three thematic blocks:

1.The subject matter as a result of ritual use.

2.The subject matter as a consequence of the passage of time.

3.The protagonism of the subject matter as a product of the selection of materials, where these are the the protagonists of the sculpture due to the importance of their presence.
